Strolling along Zhongshan Road, which hugs the western bank of the Huangpu River, your guide will point out the diverse architectural styles that adorn the buildings lining The Bund. From Gothic and Baroque to Romanesque, Renaissance, and a fusion of Eastern and Western influences, each structure tells a story of Shanghai's cosmopolitan heritage.

While exploring The Bund, your guide will highlight key attractions in the area, such as the Shanghai World Financial Center, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Century Park, Century Boulevard, and the Jinmao Tower. Whether you're admiring the futuristic skyline from afar or exploring these landmarks up close, your guide's knowledge and expertise will enrich your understanding of Shanghai's architectural and cultural landscape.

As your day in Shanghai continues, your guide will lead you to the Jade Buddha Temple, a revered Buddhist site that holds significant cultural and historical importance in the city.

Established in 1882 by Abbot Hui Gen during the Qing Dynasty, the Jade Buddha Temple has endured periods of turmoil, including a fire during the 1911 revolution. Despite these challenges, the temple has remained a spiritual sanctuary and a symbol of resilience.

Your guide will share the temple's fascinating history, including its origins and the story of how Abbot Hui Gen brought two precious white jade Buddha statues from Burma. These statues, one sitting and nearly 1.95 meters tall, and the other a smaller reclining Buddha, lend the temple its name and contribute to its spiritual allure.

Throughout your visit, your guide will offer interpretations of the temple's architecture, pointing out notable features and symbols that reflect Buddhist teachings and traditions. You'll have the opportunity to explore the temple's halls, pagodas, and gardens, taking in the intricate artwork and spiritual ambiance.

We were a group of 4 (2 couples) who were collected from the cruise port by the lovely Nancy who was so informative and knowledgeable. She was an absolute delight to spend the day with and can’t recommend her enough. Showed us all the highlights and went out of her way to find us the westernised toilets.
Thank you Nancy for a thoroughly enjoyable day x
