Stepping off the plane in Urumqi, we were immediately immersed in Xinjiang's captivating blend of cultures. Our guide Ablimit's profound understanding of the region enriched every experience, from navigating Kashgar's bustling Sunday Market to explaining the architectural significance of Id Kah Mosque. His careful timing allowed us to witness the Livestock Market at its most vibrant, while an intimate dinner with a local Uighur family revealed heartfelt hospitality.
