Day 1 Shanghai Arrival

First drive you to visit Yuyuan GardenThe largest one of Shanghai ancient gardens with Ming and Qing architectural styles decorated by beautiful pavilions, miniature lakes, bridges and rockeries. The garden was finished in 1577 by a government officer of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) named Pan Yunduan. 

Yuyuan Garden is the only fully restored classical Chinese garden in Shanghai. It has a total area of 20,000 square meters. Although the Garden occupies less than five acres, demonstrates perfectly the sophisticated art of combining several different elements to create a world in miniature - ingeniously mingling pavilions and corridors, small hills and carefully selected and well-placed rocks, lotus ponds, bridges, winding paths, and trees and shrubs.

Adjacent to the garden is the Yuyuan Bazaar, originally there was just a temple (The City God Temple) that was built in the 15th Century. Today the area is also home to a lively market that specializes in traditional Chinese arts and crafts. You can pick some antiques, silk fans, bamboo articles, shell carvings, paintings, or you try some Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings), vegetarian buns, chicken soup to experience a little of the Shanghai culture.

After lunch, continue the tour to Shanghai Museum. The Shanghai Museum is a museum of ancient Chinese art, situated on the People's Square in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, China. The museum was founded in 1952 and was first open to the public in the former Shanghai Racecourse club house, now at 325 West Nanjing Road,rebuilt at its current location in 1996, it is considered one of China's first world-class modern museums. The museum has a collection of over 120,000 pieces, including bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, furniture, jades, ancient coins, paintings, seals, sculptures, minority art and foreign art.

In the afternoon, visit the Nanjing RoadWhen people mention Shanghai's Nanjing Road, they're probably talking about East Nanjing Road, a pedestrian shopping street running for blocks between the northeast corner of People's Square and the Bund. Nanjing Road, 5.5 km in full length, enjoys the reputation as China No. 1 commercial center. It was the earliest commercial street in Shanghai since the city opened to the outside world.On both sides of the street, there are more than 360 malls, department stores, specialized shops, restaurants and cultural and recreational facilities, which receive more than 1.5 million customers everyday. In the day - time, the street is crowned with visitors and when the night falls, the colorful neon lights make the street more attractive.

Today, your will first visit the Jade Buddha Temple: The Jade Buddha Temple, also known as the Shanghai Yufo Temple, is one of the most important Buddhist temples in Shanghai, China. The Jade Buddha Temple was founded in 1882 by Abbot Hui Gen during the reign of Emperor Guang Xu (1875-1908) of the Qing Dynasty and burned down after having been occupied during the 1911 revolution. The temple takes its name from the original two white jade Buddha statues that abbot Hui Gen brought with him from Burma—a sitting statue about 1.95 m (almost 6 1/2 ft) in height and a smaller reclining Buddha.

Then drive to the Shanghai's Jewish Ghetto, visit the Jewish Refugees Museum, the museum, located at 62 Changyang Road, Hongkou District, consists of three parts: the former site of Ohel Moshe Synagogue and two exhibition halls. It is an important component of the “Tilanqiao Historic Area” and serves as a witness commemorating the phase of history when the Jewish refugees lived in Shanghai.

In the afternoon, drive to The Bund. The Bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai. The area is in the eastern part of Huangpu District centers on a section of Zhongshan Road ,which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing the high, modern skyscrapers of Pudong,Traditionally, the Bund begins at Yan'an Road in the south and ends at Waibaidu Bridge in the north, The Shanghai Bund on which you can embrace the best cityscape, feast on the rich architectural fashions ( Gothic, Baroque, Rome, Renaissance, Classic and Mixed Eastern and Western style, etc.) and know why Shanghai is glorified as "Paris of the East". There are a number of attractions in the area, such as Shanghai World Financial Center, The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Century Park, Century Boulevard, Jinmao Tower etc. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai.

Before back to your hotel, you will take a Boat cruise on the Huangpu RiverSailing down the river, along the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides including such sights as the Yangpu Bridge, the Nanpu Bridge, and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Day 4. Shanghai-Suzhou

In the morning, you'll take a high-speed train to Suzhou, which will takes about half an hours to get there. 

Upon arrival, you will be driven to your first spot Lingering Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the city's finest classical gardens. It has been listed as one of the four most famous national classic gardens together with the humble administrator's garden, the Summer Palace and Mountain Summer Resort in Chengde are called China's four largest gardens. Next agenda is Panmen Gate. The history of the Panmen Gate dates back to 514 AD. Its China's existing only water and land parallel gate, is one of the signs of the ancient city of Suzhou. It is now part of the Pan Gate Scenic Area. It is known for the "three landmarks of Pan Gate". They are the Ruiguang Pagoda, the earliest pagoda in Suzhou built in 247, the Wu Gate Bridge, the entrance to the gate at that time over the water passage and the highest bridge in Suzhou at the time, and Pan Gate.

After that, pay a visit to Hanshan Temple (Cold Mountain Temple) near the town of Fengqiao. Made famous in a poem by Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji, this Buddhist temple is known for its large bells, unique black roof and domed bridge. Take a wander around its halls, pavilions, corridors and well-maintained gardens.

Day 5. Suzhou-Shanghai-Huangshan

After breakfast, your local guide and driver will meet you at your hotel lobby and keep going your Suzhou Water Town Tour and then transfer you to Huangshan.

Firstly, drive to the Tongli Water Town, Tongli is located a short drive from Suzhou and about an hour drive outside of Shanghai. you can have a rest in the private car. The Tongli Water Town is one of the many ancient water towns in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, which are famous for their rivers, ancient bridges and house complexes. Tongli occupies an area of 51 square miles (133 square kilometers) with a population of 55,000. The city is separated by 15 rivers into seven islets, which are connected through 49 ancient bridges. The most famous bridges among the 49 bridges in Tongli are the three bridges called Taiping (peace), Jili (luck) and Changqing (celebration) bridges, which has been important landmarks of the place and regarded as the sacred architecture by the locals. 

Tongli Water Town deserves its name of a “museum of ancient architectures” as there are many homes and temples dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Designed along the riverside and embellished with carved windows, porcelain furniture, figured clay bricks, flying eaves, dapper gardens and tiny stairs leading all the way down to the water, these complexes named Tongli Water Town could be a shining pearl among the water townships south of Yangtze.

Have lunch at the local restanrant, then transfer you to the Shanghai train station, you’ll be transferred to take a high speed train to Huangshan, which will takes about 4.5 hours to get there. 

Upon arrival, your personal guide will greet you at the Huangshan North Train Station holding the board with "Huangshan Private Tour" on it and escort you to your hotel.

Day 6. Tunxi-Mt.Huangshan

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and deposit your suitcases in the hotel. You can collect it on your way back. Take your valuables, passport and a small bag or backpack for your overnight stay on the mountain.

Drive to the Huangshan Scenic Area transfer center, where you are arranged on shuttle bus riding to the Yungu cable station. You can take Yungu cable car to the top (at your own expense: CNY 80/pp).

Upon arrival, you will first climbing the Shixin Peak to watch famous Mount Huangshan pines like the Black Tiger Pinethe Couple Pinethe Dragon Claw Pine and the Overlooking the Sea of Clouds Pine. You will also be able to view several oddly-shaped rocks like the Flower Growing out of A Writing Brush and Monkey Watching Sea of Clouds.

Move on to the Beginning-to-Believe Peak, 1668 meters above the sea level, is the fifteenth of the thirty-six minor peaks of Mount Huangshan. Its fancy name comes from this story. Many years ago someone wandered to this place on his way back from the Cloud Valley Temple and was immediately stunned by its unworldly landscape. He then improvised a couplet: "Inexplicable, unbelievable; admirable, no idea until arrival" The peak has many bizarre-shaped pines. As a saying goes, "One wont see the best of the Mount Huangshan pines until they come to the Begin-to-Believe Peak".

Sounth of lake
The village is peculiarly arranged in the shape of an ox: Leigang Hill is the head, and two towering old trees standing make the horns of the ox. Four bridges across the stream are the legs, while the houses of the village form the body. Inside this "body", the winding stream from the dam represents the intestines, Moon Pond is the stomach, and South Lake (Nanhu) is the belly.

After breakfast, drive to the nearby destination Xidi Village, Xidi Village is only about 10km from Hongcun and located 40km (25 miles) away from Huangshan Mountain.

Xidi Village was listed along with Hongcun Village as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in the year 2000. These two ancient villages are the most representative local-style residences in southern Anhui Province. Xidi was first built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD) and was originally called Xichuan (West River), because of the water courses flowing west through the village. With a history of over 900 years, Xidi Village is peaceful with a hidden charm to be discovered like in a fairy tale.

Upon arrivel, you can see its well-spaced houses with white walls, elegant decorations and black tiles are surrounded by mountains, which makes Xidi an ideal place for paint from life. It's said that, Xidi is a magnificent villager of imperial officers. It contributed about 130 government officials, some of whom were dignitaries in the imperial courts, during Ming and Qing Dynasties. Currently, there are still 124 well-preserved ancient dwelling with unique style in the village.

In the afternoon drive to the Tunxi Old Street, at the foot of Mt. First opened in 1782 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory is the oldest and most famous factory for Hui Ink in China, where visitors can see the whole working process of ink sticks.
