Huangpu River cruises prepare to set sail again

Shanghai's Huangpu River cruise tour will resume operation from Sunday with passenger numbers kept under half of capacity, the cruise operator announced on Thursday.

Four tours will be arranged daily between Sunday and March 22, and ships will depart from the No.1 cruise pier of Shiliupu from 5:30pm at one-hour intervals, the Shanghai Huangpu River Cruise Co announced.

Each tour will last 50 minutes. Ships in operation will be increased gradually from March 23 based on conditions at the time, the company said.

The number of passengers on each ship will be limited to below half of capacity to prevent gathering, the cruise operator said. The first batch of ships to be in service has a capacity of 400 people.

Real-name ticket purchasing will be implemented, and tourists are required to register their contact details to ensure that they can be tracked, when an emergency happens.

Tourists must have their temperature checked and present their health QR code before boarding the ships. Those with a temperature above 37.3 degrees Celsius will not be allowed onboard.

Passengers also need to wear masks during tours.

Disinfection of ships, security check entrances, toilets and ticketing areas are enhanced, and air-conditioning will be removed to ensure good ventilation.

Tourists will be seated with distance to prevent gathering, the cruise operator said.
