First visit the Panmen City Gate and Grand Canal. The Panmen City Gate is the oldest city gate in existence in Suzhou city with more than a 2,400 year history. It used to be one of the eight city gates during the Spring & Autumn Annals (770-476 BC) when Suzhou was the capital of the Wu Kindom. It is said to have been the only gate in China with both a lower water entrance and an upper land entrance. It was built at a time when a canal moat surrounded Suzhou. The present structure was built in 1986. It is part of a park. It was built on the spot of another tower that was built about the year 1344 at the end of the Yuan Empire period. There are many gardens, pavilions and ponds scattered throughout the area. It is a very nice place to stroll and relax. The Grand Canal is one of the greatest ancient projects in China and is the longest man-made canal in world.

Then head to the Administrator's GardenSuzhou is most famous for its elegant classical gardens. Among these, Administrator's Garden is the largest and most renowned classical landscape garden in Suzhou, covering an area of 52,000 sq. meters (12.85 acres). It was built 1509 during the Ming Dynasty, is located in the No.178 Northeast Street of Suzhou City. As one of four most famous gardens in china, the garden has garnered many special honors. It is listed as a World Cultural Heritage site and has also been designated as one of the Cultural Relics of National Importance under the Protection of the State as well as a Special Tourist Attraction of China.

Have your Lunch at the restaurant popular with the local people to stay away from the tourists' meals. ( In china, do not go to the tourists's restaurants when you are on a tour. You should go to the right place to have the meals, then you are in real china ).

Recommended dishes and snacks in the town: meat wrapped in leaves, steamed pork dumplings, roast soybeans, braised pettitoes, dark-rice zongzi and rose-flavored fermented bean curd. You'll fall in love with the local  cuisine and snaks in Shanghai.

After lunch, visit the Hanshan TempleHanshan Temple (Hanshan si) is located in Maple Bridge Town (Fengqiao) in the west outskirts of Suzhou, and used to be one of the ten most famous temples in China. It became well known after the Tang poet Zhang Ji wrote a famous poem when he passed by the temple on a small boat.

Two lines of the poem reads, 'outside the Suzhou City wall, I heard the sound of Hanshan Temple bell onboard the boat and felt its midnight spell'. On 31 December every year, Hanshan Temple holds the event of Striking the New Year's Bell, during which the superior of the temple strike the bell 108 beats and visitors can enjoy themselves at various celebrations.

In the afternoon, drive to The No.1 Silk FactoryThere are more than 300 workers, one cocoon sorting machine, one cocoon boiling machine, two silk rewinding machines and one silk rewinding. The silk is always a famed representative of the ancient city of Suzhou, while the No.1 Silk Factory is just shinning card of the Suzhou silk. Built in 1926, the present No.1 Silk Factory of Suzhou is not only a workshop for silk reeling, weaving and products manufacture, but also a site for factory tour of silk knowledge and silk shopping. It is divided into three parts: the exhibition hall which shows the history of Suzhou silk and some ancient collections; the working spot, where you can see how the silk is made; And the product exhibition hall, exhibiting the main products of this factory, the silk wadding quilts. The factory gains a good reputation in the silk industry for its complete technical process of silkworm raising, cocoon sorting, cocoon boiling, and silk reeling, rewinding and packing.

The last stop is Tiger Hill: Known also as Surging Sea Hill, is a large hillock covering some 14100 square metres (over three acres) and is 36 metres (118 feet) in height. Climbing the hill, you will find a number of historical sites some of which can be traced back over 2500 years to the founding of Suzhou. Although the hill is relatively small it has rich history. These are just some of the highlights of what is to be found there.

Tiger Hill enjoys a reputation as 'the first scenic spot in the State of Wu', for Suzhou was once the capital of the State of Wu during the Spring and Autumn Period. It is where the King of Wu, He Lu, was buried after his death. The area was named Tiger Hill after a tiger was seen lying on the tomb of He Lu. A famous Song Dynasty poet, Su Shi said, 'It is a lifelong pity if having visited Suzhou you did not visit Tiger Hill.'
